Schools module

By default, FlightPath 6+ has the capacity to separate out degrees, courses, groups, users, and some settings by "school".

To enable this functionality, simply visit the Admin Console -> Modules and enabled "Schools".  You can then visit Admin Console -> Administer Schools to add/edit/remove schools.

If not enabled (this is the default mode) then all data is saved under the "default" school, with an ID of 0 (zero).

What is a "School" in FlightPath?

A school might be completely internal to your institution.  For example, you might distinguish between Graduate School, Nursing School, Pharmacy School, etc.

On the other hand, schools be separate campuses or even institutions you wish to manage all from one location.  Ex:  "North Campus", "South Campus", "ABC College", "XYZ College".

How Would this Affect Degree & Course Entry?

When the Schools module is enabled, you will see new options when creating degrees, groups, courses, and users.  If a degree is set to belong to the school "ABC", then it will not be able to make use of a course or group from school "XYZ" by default.  This, however, can be changed by an option on the Administer Schools settings page.

By default, all data belongs to the default (ID #0) school, whether you have the Schools module enabled or not.

Can I have the same CWID for users between schools?

No, this is a fundamental concept in FlightPath: CWIDs must be unique across all schools you might work with.  The easiest way to ensure uniqueness is to prepend the initials of the school/code before the CWID.  Ex:  ABC100357 and XYZ100357 clearly identify what school the user belongs to, and even though they have the same numerical CWID, because we prepended the school initials/code, they are unique in the system.
